The Organization

How is the Organization involved with the community?

One of the many projects the organization has taken on to help the poorer communities of Southern Nepal is construction and development. By utilizing international and local volunteers, the organization has focused on exchanging and sharing knowledge with the rural poor of southern Nepal in order to implement income generating programs, empower the disadvantaged Dalits (socially undermined) and low economic class groups, promote health and sanitation programs, bring education to children, and promote ecotourism to the communities living below the poverty line.

Background to the project and its aims?

Nepal is a country plagued with many governmental administrative problems. Public services are deficient, scare, or completely non-existent in many regions of the country. The organization has decided to take some of the problems head on to combat some of the education and social welfare issues in the rural and surrounding villages of Rampur.

The organization tries to help by providing helping hands to building schools/classrooms, libraries, public toilets, garbage/recycling collection centers, and assisting with education campaigns across villages in the region. This is the first step in order to be recognize by any municipality. Once construction is complete, the organization transfers the duties to the community and and administrative duties to the village council.

What are the daily volunteer activities in the project?

Volunteers will work 4-6 hours per day, six days a week, helping local skilled labour workers from the foundation setting stage, to the structure building, laying of blocks, roofing, painting and decorating. Volunteers can choose to do one or more of the following projects: school room and library construction or renovation, organic gardening, eco-village construction, monastery renovation, and others.

    • Feb. 15-28: Organic Gardening
    • March 18-31: School and Library Painting Program
