The Volunteer Bay programs are a sincere reflection of the above. We visited beautiful locations, we met admirable people working hard for their communities and we took with us lifetime lessons and memories of our work. And we continue doing so. The programs we offer are our commitment to prolong the friendship and to support the cause each of those communities pursues.
Our commitment to our volunteers is stated in our Code of Good Practice:
TVB volunteer programs have measurable objectives with pertinent volunteer roles and tasks jointly predetermined and agreed upon with the local partner organization.
TVB provides sufficient resources and support to jointly run volunteer programs with the local partner organization in an efficient, transparent and sustainable manner.
TVB physically visits and vets its program locations to provide descriptions and imagery consistent with good practice and that sincerely reflect TVB's objectives, values and concern for the local community.
TVB provides its volunteer candidates with assessed, trustworthy information and testimonials about the local organizations and the volunteer placements to encourage well informed decision-making.
TVB ensures a standardized and transparent application procedure, which includes a description of a volunteer's required skills and attributes for his role, as well as practices for safe volunteer recruitment.
TVB assists and provides relevant support to the needs of its volunteers as far as possible.
TVB ensures volunteers receive appropriate pre-departure preparation, and onsite orientation and training on the organization's policies, their specific roles and their temporary residence abroad.
TVB commits to protect and look after the safety and well-being of volunteers, their work colleagues, children and vulnerable adults in the program as far as possible.
TVB implements a debriefing stage for volunteers at the end their work period to reflect on their experiences, to pass on their knowledge, and to provide feedback.
TVB, jointly with the local partner organization, permanently monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of its programs and the volunteers' performance looking into areas of mutual improvement and learning.
